    • Project Description

    This is part of a larger project called " Giving life to the Russian village " which strives to solve one of the most pressing problems in Russia - that of underage homeless or abandoned children in difficult life situations. A farm, located in the small Karelian village of Tervu is "Hope" Family Commune's summer camp. In this Commune, social orphans and social orphans in need of social rehabilitation work, mature socially and acquire necessary skills for adaptation.

    During its 11 years of its existence, Hope helped more than 450 children to find their place in life by turning them into wholesome society members. The Governments of St. Petersburg and Karelia have helped the Commune acquire an old Finnish house, land and agricultural equipment in order to help these disadvantaged children.

    This time of the year, in the spring-summer season, Commune starts its agricultural activities, aimed to stock the Commune's residents with foodstuff and create a self-sustainable environment. Due to the increased fuel intake, one of the main current PROBLEMS for the Commune is the ability to service machinery, such as the tractor, irrigating equipment and the truck (GAS-3129) with fuel and oil. The " Bread for the Soul " project is aimed to solve the fuel and oil shortage this spring and summer.

    Project Budget

    The tractor used by the Commune, performs the following agricultural works:
    1. Plowing and cultivating of the land, delivery to the field and distribution of manure and fertilizers, collection of vegetables and potato and their removal from the 1,561 acres of fields (5 hectares).
    The use of diesel fuel is 132 gallons (500 liters)

    2. Preparation of hay for the cattle (cutting of the grass, tossing it, making a hay stack, pressing of the hay and its subsequent removal from 4,682 acres of fields (15 hectares).
    The use of diesel fuel is 211 gallons (800 liters)

    3. Delivery of a 396 gallon (1.5 ton) water tank from a water source 1.2 miles away (2 km) in order to supply water for irrigation of 1 acre (0.5 hectare) used for growing vegetables, provide water for 15 heads of cattle and the needs of residents including washing clothes and dishes, cooking and sanitary needs.
    The use of diesel fuel is 26 gallons (100 liters)

    4. Delivery of firewood used in the summer kitchen for cooking.
    The use of diesel fuel is 52 gallons (200 liters)

    5. Use of tractor for various small farm chores.
    The use of diesel fuel is 26 gallons (100 liters)

    Total use of diesel fuel for the 5 month period is 449 gallons (1,700 liters).

    6. The use of irrigation machine for watering the vegetable garden and fields.
    The use of gasoline type A-76 fuel is 132 gallons (300 liters)

    7. The use of truck GAS-3129 for delivery of produce and other necessities for residents from St Petersburg to the village 156 miles (250 km) away. Average monthly mileage is 1,250 (2,000 km) uses about 132 gallons (300 liters) of fuel.
    Theuse of gasoline type A-76 fuel is 396 gallons (1,500 liters)

    Total use of gasoline type A-76 for the 5 month period is 476 gallons (1,800 liters).

    Change of oil (M-8 G2K) and oil additions are required for the tractor (MTZ-82). Commune's other machinery uses Manol
  • The use of M-8 G2K for the 5 month period is 11 gallons (40 liters).
  • The use of M-8 G2K for the 5 month period is 3 gallons (10 liters).

    • The use of lubricants such as Solidol and Nigrol is required in the following amounts:
  • The use of Solidol for the 5 month period is 5 gallons (20 kg).
  • The use of Nigrol for the 5 month period is 5 gallons (20 liters).
