Я вас сильно люблю!By Galina Kushnareva, staff correspondent of "Vladivostok" newspaper ...We are also thankful to our friends from overseas, who provided heart-warming gifts to public orphanage children from Primorye region. Quite recently, through the efforts of www.OrphanAct.org, hundreds of kids received warm sweaters knitted by regular Americans of the Guideposts. The Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea in Hawaii has donated one thousand dollars for shipping. Liudmila Shilo, the principal of the Vladivostok Correctional Orphanage #1, has received money from foreign philanthropists, and written in response: "Big thanks for the monetary donations to improve our orphans' living conditions. We were able to purchase 50 light fixtures, an autoclave for sterilization of medical equipment, a sowing machine, utility cabinets, and a soon-to-be-delivered ironing machine. Like Santa Clauses, you gave us presents we were dreaming about." (See the project). Just in three last months, the orphanages have received tens of thousands of dollars, thanks to the Ascent Charitable Fund headed by a Vladivostok native Kirill Boguoslavski. Kirill informed us that in the past few days, they have received additional $10,000 to be channeled in Primorye orphanages. All of it comes from regular Americans like Santilli family from Florida, who sincerely want to bring joy to our kids' lives... |
