"The kindergarten is located in the same building where the orphanage is located. That is, some of the space is common and this is where the food preparation area is located and where the meals are prepared for the children. Because of this arrangement, it is challenging to teach children essential domestic skills (how to prepare meals themselves, how to bake, how to can food for storage, how to wash dishes etc.) Also, as it may be seen from the picture, the area for washing dishes is very small and ill equipped. In these conditions, it is very hard to organize children's help and to teach them to be self-sufficient. This project is aimed to create conditions necessary to teach and to occupy children, so that their labor would bring them not only benefit, but also joy. In this project, we would like to utilize the space of adjacent rooms: the former bathroom, which has not been used for a long time, and the room for washing dishes. In these rooms, plumbing, electric wiring and fixtures must be replaced. Also needed are the change in the space layout and major renovations. Distribution of meals will take place not in the dining hall directly but at the “window”. This would increase the dining halls usable space. We would like to install washing basins in the room for dishes where children may wash their hands before meals. In the food preparation area we will install an electric stove, a refrigerator, dishwashing station, cabinets to store dishes, water heater and other equipment. Completion of this project would improve the daily life of children and it would improve work conditions of the employees in the orphanage. Project director Y.A. Bozhko."
