Project Description
The Regional Specialized Children’s Home #2, Artem city, Primorski Krai, was opened on the basis of an ordinary kindergarten. The head physician is Mashukova Tatiana Nickolaevna. Children from 3 months to 3-4 years live in the children’s house. Most of them have disabilites.

The children’s home based on a typical kindergarten has its equipment for the playgrounds. The employees paint everything there every year. But this equipment doesn’t correspond to height and abilities of the children. A swing and a roundabout are rather high (about 80 cm) and their seats are on a level with a child’s head. The decorative train with bright eyes and the boat on one of the playgrounds are just available to watching, as they are very high for the children. The only thing the children can play with is a small ladder, but it has stairs from both sides and it frightens most of the children. Sand pits are in decay and can’t be used for playing, and they stay desolate on an empty playground. The employees do their best to improve this cheerless view of the children’s playgrounds. On the tops of the stumps they nailed inverted washbasins, painted different colours and now they look like mushrooms, but they are of the children’s height. The employees also try to organize the grounds for walking. But the children can’t choose what to do independently, because they don’t have any choice.

The only thing left for them is to watch the colourful, bright train, the boat and flowers, which the employees plant every year, and grass, which is everywhere on the empty playgrounds.

2 Swing Sets - 14,200 rub
2 Sand Boxes w/cover - 9000 rub
2 Stands - 51,400 rub
4 benches - 10,000 rub
Installation - 8,460 rub
Grand total: labor and material – 93,060 rubles ($3,750)
