Project Description
Makeevka Snowdrops is a public orphanage located in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. It is home to approximately 70 children between the ages of 2-12. Forty-eight caregivers provide for their needs. Most of these children will remain in Snowdrops until being transferred to boarding schools at the age of 12. Until the age of 12 they attend a local public school.

The purpose of this project is to provide a major overhaul of the orphanages' dormatory. Two additional bedrooms will be constructed to help with the crowded conditions that the children live in. By doing so the children will be able to sleep fewer to a room and have a bit more privacy and quiet. A new refridgerator will be added to help store much needed medicines, as well as two hot water heaters needed for bathing and washing clothes. In addition, the facilities' only computer has finally broken down and the staff is no longer able to complete the paperwork that is required by the State. They are completing everything by hand as quickly as possible but a considerable backlog is forming. Out-of-date or missing government records makes it difficult, if not impossible, for available children to be adopted.

Project’s Budget:
Computer and Peripherals - 8,250 GR ($1650)
Building 2 additional bedrooms - 7,078 GR ($1,415)
2 Hot Water Heaters- 8,800 GR ($1,760)
1 New Refrigerator- 2,475 GR ($495)
Repair motor in older refridgerator - 1,650 GR ($330)
Personal hygiene products - 3,025 GR ($605)
Grand total: 31,278 GR ($6,255)
