Help To The Orphans Comes From Far Away

Ever growing number of people in all parts of the world notice the problems of children's homelessness, orphans and kids, who were left alone in dire straits by their parents. But noticing is not equal to the real help.

During a year the Serzhantovo Orphanage with 58 kids from 3 to 17 years old received lots of help from the people living on the other continent. The people, who feel how difficult is the life of these kids and work of the staff, who takes care of these children. One year ago Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation “Voskhozhdeniye” from the USA bought Kitchen Equipment – electrical stove and food boiler for the total sum of 52630 rubles. The help was just in time as the previous equipment was completely worn for the 11-year history of the House.

Today the tough and complicated financial situation requires huge financial and labor investments even for a minor renovation of the building, bedrooms, halls, rooms for the games and personnel-rooms. The renovation was again possible only thanks to the help of the Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation, its organizer Kirill Bogouslavski and his representative in Vladivostok, Valentin Boguslavski. The fund gave us 65299 rubles for the purchase of the Building Materials. Thanks to this help the Children House could cover the floor with new linoleum (120 sq.m.), change the window glass (11 sq.m.), buy the new lamps instead of the worn-out ones, install the new door-blocks, give all the walls of the premises a fresh coat of paint, purchase tiles (10 sq.m.) for the dinning room and kitchen. The building materials were delivered by the retail shop “Globe”, and gave a 7% discount for all purchased materials.

For the short period when the kids of the Children House were in summer camps, the employees of the Children House performed all the construction works by themselves. The senior-group pupils also performed renovation and decoration works and alongside with grown-ups helped create cozy conditions in the house.

After coming back from the camps kids were really happy to see the new cozy and renewed rooms, beautiful rooms for games. It's so pleasant to live and easy to study, when you have comfortable conditions around. The administration of the Children House has many plans to perform and we hope that more and more people will take active part in the lives of orphans.
