Planned Giving

Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation is a non-profit charity incorporated under the laws of the State of California and is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN #91-2192371). Please consult your tax, legal and financial advisors for most effective use of planned giving techniques and contact us for more information.

Appreciated Financial Assets
Avoid capital gains tax liabilities by donating appreciated stocks, mutual funds or bonds, or consider gifting paid-up life insurance policies when your family responsibilities decrease. Contact us if you have land, buildings, or other property, even stock options, you would like to donate.

Memorial Fund
Make a charitable gift to Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation in honor of an important person in your life or to establish a family tradition of giving over the years. The fund would exist for perpetuity and could be started for as little as $10,000. Your contribution is tax-deductible. Earnings can be used for a program or an area of your choice. You will receive an annual report on performance and finances.

Annual Unrestricted Contributions
Support our general charitable purposes by making annual unrestricted contributions and earn a current tax deduction.

Charitable Lead Trust
Select a period of years for Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation to receive payments from the trust, after which the trust corpus can be transferred to your heirs or other beneficiaries. Lead trusts can be particularly tax-efficient ways to transfer wealth to a younger generation.

Charitable Remainder Trust
Secure an income stream for you and your spouse, or your heirs, or provide for future payments to fund a grandchild's college education, and get an income tax deduction now. At the termination of the income payout, the charitable remainder would flow to Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation.

Pooled Income Fund
Your gift is pooled with other contributions and invested in income-producing securities managed by our investment advisor. Income from your portion of the fund is then paid to you (or to others you specify) each year for life, with the principal flowing to Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation at your death. An income tax benefit is generated in the year of the donation.

Gift Annuity Program
Provide an immediate or deferred income stream for yourself or others, receive a tax deduction, and know that the residuum will flow to Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation at the annuitant's death. Payout rates are determined by life expectancies and are very attractive at higher ages.

Bequest
Include bequest to Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation in your will. Specify either a fixed amount or a percentage of your estate. Also remember to include Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation as contingent beneficiary in your will and in your retirement and life insurance programs (in the event your intended heirs predecease you). There is no limit on federal estate tax deductions for charitable contributions. We suggest the following wording for bequests in wills or trusts: "I give and bequeath to Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation, a non-profit corporation of the State of California with a tax identification number 91-2192371, ___________ (insert dollar amount, percentage of estate, or description of securities or property, etc.) to be used for its general purposes (or insert the name of a program)."

Tax-Vulnerable Qualified Plans
List Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation as beneficiary in your tax-vulnerable qualified plans. Because tax-deferred retirement arrangements like IRAs or 401(k) plans can be subject to estate and income taxes, it can be very efficient to make testamentary bequests from these accounts by naming Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation as beneficiary for charitable designations from these accounts.
